"Honorable Women??? That's exactly what they are..There are not enough hours in the day or night to describe how amazing these women are!!..first off my name is Lia..2020 has been an unbelievable year for everyone on earth..The world was taken over by an invisible force called Covid-19 which emphasized loneliness and isolation.. unemployment rates were higher than anyone had seen, suicide rates were climbing, domestic abuse trickling through many homes, children deprived of quality education, and workers stressed to the max, yet in the midst of all of this a beacon of hope emerged from one unlikely place.. Chicago! God showed out with these women!! I have known Lakeisha Walker, the founder of HW, since September. Later I was introduced to her amazing right hand aid Montoria Pankey..My relationship with Lakeisha came at a time I definitely needed it..just barely two months prior to meeting her, I had endured the unexpected and extremely painful loss of my mom..plus I was now living in a women's shelter totally stripped of all hope and determination to go on..on top of that my health began to deteriorate... Lakeisha was my voice of hope..I cried on the phone with her when life really took it's best shot at me..Her heart and those that works within the organization is absolutely essential to the world now and beyond..I personally don't remember meeting anyone outside of my mom who would literally go out of their way to put a smile on the face of someone they just met..these women have come to the shelters to supply us with necessities and encouragement..Here we are at Christmas time which for alot of people may be the hardest part of the whole year, and they have delivered us a bounty of gifts!!!! I had not a branch to a tree or a single decoration and now I have an abundance of beautiful, superiorly thoughtful, gifts! One thing for sure, due to the kindness of these women, my Christmas will not be spent in mourning or sorrow! God's little helpers have done it again!!"(Angelia Lewis)
